(#81) Where Does The Time Go?

Hey! Maggie Mae here. A lot has happened since I last WOOFED. Steve and Hoppi may be a few dog years older than me, but they keep me busier than a puppy trying to unravel the toilet paper roll. (Shh!)

Hoppi, Steve, and I worked with a nice human (Ms. Mikaela) here at the beach. We met with two other pups (Zeke and Winston) each week and learned new words and hand signals. The building we visited had distractions, like the yummy smells of food, treats, toys, and other dogs. Steve said I graduated and got two diplomas. I have no idea what that means, but I can tell you I got lots of biscuits every time we went to see the nice human. Yum!

I think the thing Hoppi and Steve are the happiest about is that I am, as they say, “housebroken.”  Sounds odd, doesn’t it? I’m not broken. But they are really excited about it. That happened at about my five-month birthday.

One month later, I heard two more new words when I was spayed and coned. I don’t remember the spaying, but I remember wearing this awkward thing around my head for a long time. Steve called me Conehead the Barbarian. He laughed. I sat for a biscuit.

Good news: Once the cone came off, I returned to the Little Yellow Building to play with other pups all day. I’m having sleepovers there, too.

Last week, I had a play date with Keegan! He is a retired service dog and a current pet therapy dog. I’ve heard Hoppi and Steve talk about the second thing (pet therapy dog). They mention my name. I’m not sure what it’s all about, but it brings a smile to their faces. Biscuits maybe?

Keegan might be an older dog, but I was pooped. Keegan’s person took a photo of me. I heard him say it was Tongue-Out Tuesday.

As you can see, I’ve been busy. Today, March 19, is my seven-month birthday. Steve and Hoppi still use the words off, drop it, and leave it a lot. That tells me I’ve still got some learning to do. All three of us are ready.

I love my new family more than biscuits. Really!

WOOF! (and remember, I’m on fire!)

I hear Roxie’s book, Roxie Looks for Purpose Beyond the Biscuit, is still available.  She shares stories and lessons about friends, family, and fun. And she speaks about purpose as well.  (Steve says for dogs, we might want to call it “furpose.”)

Steve also released his first novel this year. Check it out: The Voice in Your Ear.

Please note that all photos (unless otherwise noted) were taken by my person, Steve Piscitelli. I believe humans call this copyright notice. I’m a pup, so I don’t know.
