(#52) A Lucky Break

Last time, I WOOFED about my visit to a big building to fix my leg. Steve and Hoppi took me but it wasn’t fixed. Seems that right before the fixing was to begin, the human in charge discovered another part of my body that needed fixing first. I had to go home and wait.

A few days later, back to the big building where the humans placed me on my back and looked at my belly. I thought, “Belly rub!”  Not sure I got one as the next I remember I was waking up in a crate with something around my neck (hideous looking if you ask me) and my belly was a little sore. They kept me a few nights at the big building. Don’t remember much as they kept me groggy and I slept a lot.

Steve and Hoppi came to visit me a couple times but I don’t remember much. “Roxie, you looked gorked,” Steve said with a smile as he scratched my ears. He continues to make words up.

While the big-building human is encouraged, she sent for a test on what she took out of my belly to make sure all is ok.  I hear that whatever was in my belly was keeping my energy too low. They were glad they discovered this before it became a bigger problem. And they would not have found it if I had not broken that thing called an ACL.

I guess it was a lucky break for me.

When we got home, things changed a bit. I’m not allowed on the stairs and our walks go no further than the driveway. No beach. No park.  While I sleep a lot, I feel like I am getting more energy back each day. Hoppi and Steve gently rub my belly and sometimes place a cold packet on it to make it feel better. They also give me some goo-goo pills to keep me calm and quiet. That’s my name for them because they make me “goo-goo-goofy.” They “hide” it in some of my food and feed it to me. I let them believe they have fooled me.

Each day I get a bit stronger. And that is good as I must go back to that big building again so they can fix my leg—finally! I’ll let you know how that goes.

For all who have sent good wishes and orders to Steve to increase my biscuit delivery, I thank you.

Because of you all, #iwillbeback!

Thanks for coming back to my blog. You make me happier than biscuits!

My book, Roxie Looks for Purpose Beyond the Biscuit, is still available.  I share stories and lessons about friends, family, and fun. And I speak about purpose as well.  (Steve says for dogs we might just want to call it “furpose.” He makes words up, I think.) Perhaps the book holds a biscuit or two for you!

WOOF!
